Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) is a Cisco proprietary routing protocol. It is designed to be used within a single autonomous system. It's often described as an advanced distance vector protocol as it had both links state and distance vector like features and also it is called Hybrid routing Protocol
EIGRP uses a three step process.
Become neighbours - Two routers running EIGRP form a neighbour relationship. Exchange routing information - The neighbouring routers send full update and then partial updates if any changes occur. Choose the best routes - Each router chooses the best routes to add to its routing table based route metric.
