This woman was straight badass. She died in her own home, and was still rich at that time. Which means she won the game. Most criminal bosses die either in prison, broke, or both.

There is a movie called Hoodlum made in 1997 about Queenie. Cicely Tyson played Queenie. The movie is very entertaining. Lawrence Fishburne plays Bumpy Johnson.

Wow! Great example of a woman who knew how to run her own business without letting anyone intimidate her or get in her way, she stood up against any of the cowards trying to ruin her, a great example of a strong woman.💯

Forgotten Lives, Yes, I have heard of Stephanie St. Clair. Better known as Madam St Claire. You see some of her in the movie "The Cotton Club" and the movie "Hoodlum" Both movies Laurence Fishbourne played mobster Bumpy Johnson. In movie "Hoodlum" Cicely Tyson played Madame St. Claire. Fascinating lady. Thanks for the upload.

At 7:56, is a picture of the late actress Cicely Tyson. She was portraying Stephanie St.Clair, in the 1997 film ‘Hoodlum.’

She was a woman ahead of her time, I feel she should be recognized for her contribution to society.

Beautifully done! If she had been born now she would have gotten an MBA in business. In psychology some people become sociopathic not because they are wicked but because the circumstances of their lives teach them to be. There was no model in her time for an ambitious black woman. Did you say black Americans couldn't put their money in the banking system? That means you need another option and so policy manufactures crime.

Imprisoned for "LIVING BY HER WITS." Now that in itself is a crime. She beat the boys at the very GAME she invented and since then the GAME has been Rigged!

She was ahead of time considering the time period.

Thanks for researching her later years. I glad to know she lived a quiet life in her elder years after all that young wild street life.

She would make a great movie. What a life! Imagine going toe-to-toe with Dutch Schultz and winning?! Incredible.
Thank you.
