if you ever visit Hawaiʻi Island again, visit the more local Hilo town establishments: Seaside Restaurant Aquafarm for the freshest seafood, Nori’s, Cafe 100, Ken’s House of Pancakes, Hawaiian Style Cafe, KTA Supermarket (for bento, bowls, or musubi), Big Island Candies for their chocolate dipped shortbread cookies and Atebara’s for their delicious taro chips to take home. Also sightsee up north: Akaka Falls (waterfall that’s longer than Niagara) and a must-do is horseback riding in Waimea. Then Tex’s Drive Inn for their home-made malasadas 😋

Hi Lois! Thanks so much for the video! I found it especially interesting, since I’ll be there next month. You mentioned that snorkeling with the manta rays was “quite the experience.” Was it because you got seasick, didn’t see manta rays, or not a good tour company that you went with? I’m asking because I’m on the fence about going as I had read from some other reviewers about experiencing nausea on the boat ride over.
