In this video I take a look at the PCB of the Founder's Edtiton GTX 1080 PCB and explain how to mod the power limit. If you would like to see a similar video for a different GPU drop a comment down bellow and I will try my best to make it.

Nvidia said that they put all of their effort and quality in this reference card. All of this tells me that they lied by a huge margin.

How likely, on a scale of 1 to 10, is it that this mod will damage something on the card.

I am sure if you ask videocardz they may be able to provide a higher quality picture of some of these:

@buildzoid, curious question, whats up with the extra 8 pin connector solder pads on the back of the reference pcbs ? there perhaps a mini mod that one can do with ref boards with em ?

Nice! Im definitely waiting for a watercooled 6+ phase change 1080 to get in SLI and OC somewhere between 2.2 and 2.5GHz

Hey man, what I wonder: 225 Watts is the maximum of power by 8Pin psu connector(150W) + 75W from PCIE slot if Im not mistaken, so if my card already uses in stock 220 Watts(Gigabyte Windforce, with also only 1 x 8 pin connector, MSI afterburner set to maximum of 108% for power..), the powermod wouldnt work, right? bc if the card wants to draw 250 watts after the mod, there is still only 225 available? thanks in advance! Regards Dave

Maybe they left the last VRM out for the ti? I don't know Nvidia's PCB history, but they could be lazy. Could also save them money on PCB design and such. :0

does anyone know the mosfet driver for this card? the mosfet itself is aoe6930 and i can't read the driver marking :(

I have short on my mosfet so I might as well replace the driver for it

Could you do a vid on the Strix 390X DC03's PCB. ASUS claims alot of 'premium' components and automated processes are used in making its PCB. Yet despite that it has been getting coil whine recently.

Thanks for the vid :p

So what would happen if one would add the missing components to this card? would it run more efficiently and cooler?

awesome, managed to get another 100Mhz out of my 1080s with the power mod, now I'm stuck at 1.093V. Any custom bioses our there already?

its nothing new for NVidia ref boards to have missing phase placements.after the 680 gtx I stopped buying ref nv cards it was like walking on eggshells when hard modded. without adding in a power board to totally bypass the vrm/power area of the card  .the 680 was 500usd but then the titan/x  at $1k was the same pos "just enough to work" nv ref approach, what really sucked is no custom boards for those look forward to maybe some custom boards by July, like the DCII. I can mod my bios, easy hard mod and cooling good to go.

Other than pointless rambling, I've never seen you overclock a god damn thing!
