Shooting events with changing lighting, concert photography

Try ISO 1600 to 3200, Shutter Speed at 1/500 to 1/2000 depending on the movements done by the artists and an aperture from f1.8 to f4. Spot Metering and Continuous Focus (Full Auto Servo Mode). Yes, you can take burst photos with this. You wont lose 90% of the shots at all. Done it. Worked beautifully from a distance.

Thanks for providing this video. I’ve been shooting dance photography on stage for more than a decade and this is exactly what I do. Shutter around 1/400, f2.8-3.2 and auto ISO set at 100-6400 (and occasionally as high as 10, 000). Exposure set at Sony H+ and -2/3 EV. Always RAW. (“ you can always fix noise in post, but you can’t fix blur”) For a long time I used topaz denoise, and now use Lightroom denoise. After culling the images I don’t want to keep, I sort my images by ISO then batch process them for noise at the beginning of my workflow.

I've found that Shutter Speed of 1/250 is best for stopping motion. just a thought. I get no motion blur.

Well done, informative and clear. Easy to understand. I have had stunning success with a full frame SonyA7S in low light. I have the ISO normally set at auto with the max at 12000.

Much good in this but still can't get the settings on my D500 many get great results with. Don't know why this is killing me with shooting clean 4k video (lots of multiple angles to choose in post. Luxury I know! ) with Sony cams. I love this camera. I have beatiful results in natural light. But it's the venues I need.... Where to go to pick my game up? In Australia, complimenting a video production project. Not out to complete with the pros. But hey we all want to shoot our beat always!

I do full manual. Auto anything is bad when the lights enter the frame, which is often.

Why on earth would you use f4 in low light like that? That’s a 2.8 lens, use f2.8 on aperture priority mode! Then you won’t have to use too high ISO
