Raspberry Pi Plant Monitoring System w/ Python - Series Introduction

Показать описание
In this series we'll be building a climate-smart plant monitoring system which will aid in the control and automation of caring for potted plants at home, or even entire crops. This facilitates a climate-smart agriculture approach, by watering the plants only when the soil is dry. This saves water and energy used for irrigation, as well as minimizing soil runoff.

Using Python and the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B, we'll first build an application that prints live sensor readings to the Pi's terminal. Throughout the series, we will add incrementally to the functionality of the system, by:

-Creating user alarm notification via email with SMTPLib

-Building a SQLite database to store historic reading data

-Building a web application with Flask to provide a browser-based user interface to access the data

-Building a REST API endpoint, accessible by the Raspberry Pi, to update the web application with latest sensor readings

I have disability / limitations learning and doing. I look forward to your videos! I need moisture monitor only as sensor then trigger small water pump if water sensor is low, to run for a while until sensor detects water, then turn off water pump. I have 12. Vegetable plants to monitor.

I also purchased an 8channel dc5Volt relay module. I have a raspberry pi 3B+ (qty 2).
I need to purchase correct wires. Also very longer wires to water pump from relay.
Water tubes, ( many feet) and python code specific to water sensor and water pump interaction.

Otherwise I cannot care for them. If you can, please show connection locations clearly and slowly so I can stop video as needed to do that part.
Once I see code I can learn it.
I would like to keep these plants healthy and hopefully repeat I for a large garden next year. I can get help from church in planting garden, but auto watering and fertilizing will keep it alive. I will split harvest with whomever helps gather it for me.

Most Humble Appreciation!
Your work has great impact for me!
