Rayovac for life. The best bang for the buck.

I use Rayovac Ultra Pro batteries which are for industrial applications but work great for consumer use. The 24 AA contractor packs are only $10 and the shrink wrapped AA 8 packs are only $4.80. I buy them from Batteries Plus Bulbs but I can get an AA shrink wrapped 8 pack for $3.36 each because I have a commercial account with them. They are great for most household electronics including analog wall or table clocks.

Just curious.... While test was running you had the lights aimed at a wall (?) The rayovac seemed consistently brighter than the others, yet this was not the conclusion you had when you ended the comparison.

Rayovac is still my battery of choice. Used them when I was a kid. Just takes me back in time...lol. And Eveready, I like the classics. Use the above mentioned batteries in my RC transmitter, TV remote, etc. Anything with a slow drain.
For my Xbox remote I use rechargeables since it drains batteries quick no matter what brand.

It would have been fun, if you bought a 4th light, so you could compare the name brand cells with the cheap cells that they come with! When you spend extra money on a name brand, are you truly buying a better cell, or are you merely paying for the advertising costs?
On another note, LED flashlights are shunt regulators, that rely on the ESR of the cells as ballast. A crummier cell, not rated for high drain devices will last longer and be more consistent, but, not as bright at the start. Because the higher Equivalent Series Resistance, they just won't supply as much current, therefore lasting longer. The test would indeed be a little more accurate with incandescent flashlights, because the bulbs will pull a more similar current on each cell, than an LED, which holds the batteries at a fixed voltage slightly below the open terminal voltage of the batteries. Ironically, a quality battery will make LED flashlights brighter, but for a shorter period of time.

Why would you even bother to upload this incomplete test? Makes one wonder what kind of logic you use to function on a daily basis?
