Very impressive and precise job testing the 9Vs! Always a thumbs up and looking forward to the next video!

Here's an interesting extra bit you might find enlightening: Many years ago, I was having problems with 9V energizers and was looking for alternatives. Ended up dismantling a battery from each of several brands. What was inside was very revealing. (this applies to the 9V batteries that use the cylindrical AAAA size cells, not the 'stacked' kind) The Duracell had welded straps connecting the cells together and to the snaps. Ray-o-Vac had welded straps, except pressure to one of the snaps. Energizer had no straps, instead had bits of selectively aluminized cardboard at the top and bottom connecting the cells, and pressure to the snaps board. The crimps on the case were the only thing providing pressure. (Drop an energizer 9V, it often went bad or flaky. That's why.) This was 25 years ago, but some of the batteries still are built this way I think. Duracell is made in a few different countries so may have different insides. But it was quite interesting. Duracell and Ray o Vac were our 9Vs of choice from there on out... Stu Thanks for doing these kinds of vids! Stay safe!

Very nice testing! I know this takes a lot of time and effort and negative comments come from channels with NO content. Thanks 👏🏻👍

Thank you Doug. After the house fire we had I am always on the lookout for good batteries for our smoke detectors. Has always I liked, shared. All my best and stay safe.

I've always wanted to know which one was better Duracel or Energizer. Now I know. Thanks

Please do a similar test with Lithium 9 Volt (primary, not rechargeable Li-on) batteries. Maybe the Energizer vs the Amazon basic? I can't seem to find any testing on the lithium 9 volt batteries.

Okay, so the Energizer and Duracell stay above 7V an even amount of time, then you see some separation. What's the cutoff voltage in a smoke alarm before chirping begins?

Most excellent comparison. Many thanks!

Just wondering, do you think that the 19.2% performance difference would be constant with a variable load?

For example would duracell still last 19.2% more in a smoke alarm?

Would duracell last 19.2% longer on a small motor?

OK MR ElectronicsNmore, I've got one for you!!! How about review on AA/18650 battery CHARGERS? Which one charges the best, puts more oomf in your lithium rechargeable batteries??? I have one that works pretty darn good, but I would love to see you beat them up!!! It would also be cool to see which AA lithium battery lasts the longest, but for me at least, I would like to see the charger torture test first. Thanks for a GREAT channel!!!!

Why have you not tested the Lithiums?... Please test💁 thank you 🙏

Very interesting.

It coincides with my experience/preference for Duracells in 9 V. I find they leak at the same sporadic rates as the Energizer counterpart but they run longer in projects and devices and are slightly less expensive where I am when bought in bulk.

Then reverse that brand preference in the A series battery form factor. Frankly, in AA/AAA, when I have to Kirkland Signature (Costco) has become my preference.

Cheers!

good test. You should use a programmable load device that has either internal logging and /or output to computer program to log your test results. This device could be used when testing all (most) of your batteries.

If the useful life is about 6.5 to 7 volts, there doesn't appear to be much difference between the two.I'd like to see the same test on cheapy brands, as well

5V IS when the smoke detectors start to beep.. So maybe thats why they tested them down to 4.8?

you said earlier in the video that anything uncer 7v likely wouldn't even work, so it looks like they performed nearly the same until 7v... so i see no diff
