How to Use MinMaj7 Chords in Your Compositions

The minMaj7 chord can be used in many different ways to create a mysterious emotion that can give you goosebumps. One of the ways is to use it on the 4th degree of a major key. In this way we can create a rich sounding plagal cadence with just something extra. But there are more very interesting possibilities that you will discover in this tutorial.

The minMa7 chord also enriches the chord with the tonic a fifth down. Thus the GminMaj7 chord makes the C dominant seventh sound much richer (It's really the C9b5). I use it all the time.
