Towing a trailer like that with a car is a perfectly normal occurrence in Europe. We even haul caravans and stuff. It's only in the US where people believe they should buy a big ass truck for hauling stuff.

I just hauled my toolbox’s home on a trailer like that. Toolbox’s and tools probably weighed 1500-2000 lbs. just watch and make sure the tongue on the trailer doesn’t come loose. There’s only 2 bolts that hold it on. Other than that just take your time and be safe.

I had a custom aluminium trailer built to tow up to two bikes behind my Subaru. I then built a mud/gravel/bug shield out of plywood that I bolted to the front of the trailer to protect the bike. Of course that increases fuel consumption but I'd rather that than having rocks hitting my bike.
