California Legislators Get Close-Up View of High-Speed Rail Progress

As the California High-Speed Rail Authority advances design on high-speed rail trainsets and stations, Authority staff welcomed members of the California State Legislature to Cal Expo for a preview of the work. Legislators from both houses toured the preliminary train interior mock-ups and topographical maps of planned Central Valley stations that will connect California’s mega-regions. Four legislative members also traveled to the Central Valley to tour construction sites, seeing the massive scale of the project and the significant advancements firsthand.

I think the CAHSRA team should try to get the 220 mph Red Bull drone team out there and film some structures and parts of the route at full track speed. I think it would be cool to see what the actual speed and view would be like while riding.

I hope they can get started on the SF to Merced section soon The Environment Impact Statement is complete and approved. Electrification of the Caltrains section is too.

For people who never experience high-speed rail? The only Americans who did experience it are those who traveled overseas to experience it. The rest of America only dreams of it. California, do what Japan did over 50 years ago. Keep moving and get it done. Don't give up. Give Americans what they should of had decades ago....

I can't wait to see rail installation along the alignment! I hope the built-to-order interiors don't cause too many problems over using off-the-shelf designs.

This is the most important project in the U.S. right now. Politicians need to make this top priority. This is like building the first leg of the Intestate system back in the 1950's. I would be nice to have speed increased from 220 mph to 250 ot 266 mph to match or surpass China's Beijing-Shanghai line speed increase in 2025 to 250 mph (400 kmh)
