The information in this video is misleading. The retina contains ganglian cells of which some contain a photo pigment called “melanopsin” which tells the pineal gland to not produce and release melatonin in responds to light exposure. The connection between melatonin production in the body of which only 5% comes from the pineal gland the other 95% are produced in all mitochondria 24/7 and by the gut in the middle of the day and chronic inflammation, degenerative diseases and cancer treatments has been established in thousands of studies. Here in the US Prof Russel Reiter has done research since 1964 and his 1600 pier reviewed papers can be found online. Melatonin is not a sleep hormone, that is true and it is in fact not a hormone at all. It is the strongest antioxidant in the body and the most important molecule that makes life possible on earth. Did you know plants make melatonin as well? Lot of love 💕

Not sure if this is covered in the long version, but melatonin is extremely powerful as an antioxidant, and also protective against radiation. If you take melatonin before getting an x-ray, for example, it will completely protect you from the radiation even with low doses of melatonin.

Studies have shown a very positive effect from Melatonin when doing chemo treatments, easing the side effects from chemo and radiation

I sleep better with melatonin, generally. Definately crash most of the time soon after I take it. Not everytime. I should do a diary

I find the melatonin that is sold in stores to be too high of a dose. The body naturally produces about .5 mg of the stuff. So I buy it in liquid form metered to give you 1 mg per dropper full. I'll then take 3 to 5 drops. Works great without making wake up groggy. I did find that 1 to 3 mg of melatonin would make my dreams incredibly intense. Almost life like.

If there's anything you should take for sleep, consider magnesium. A high dose of it will send you to sleep

You can’t really discuss melatonin without reference to the work of Dr Russel Reiter who is the worlds leading expert. To try to do so looks ignorant

I am no scientist, praise God for that! I can say from my own experience is that melatonin allows me to get much better sleep in a shorter time. If I don't take it, I can sleep for hours and still feel tired when I get up, but if I take melatonin I get a much deeper more restful sleep and can wake up at 4 am and not feel tired.
Whatever it does is powerful.
This guy is just focusing on 1aspect of melatonin and not on the rest.
