Beyza Mevlüde Çepni | Reduction Types of Elliptic Curve and Tate's Algorithm

Let E be an elliptic curve defined over a discrete valuation field K with ring of integers R whose
maximal ideal is p. Let E ̄be the reduction of the elliptic curve modulo p. In this talk we will present
some of the properties of the reduction map E - E~. We will also describe the different possibilities
for the curve E~. Additionally, we will discuss some of the theory on the special fiber of the Neron
model of an elliptic curve. This will lead to a detailed classification of these special fibers. Also, we
will display Tate's algorithm which provides a more computational approach to produce these
special fibers.
