Tutorial for beginners - how to use Tamiya wash (panel line accent color).

Tamiya enamel wash ideal for highlighting panel lines and other details to make your model more realistic.

Apply over base coat of lacquer (gloss or semi-gloss). Accent Color paints may damage underlying base coat. Test before applying onto the model.

Just remember folks Tamiya accent panel line color is enamel based product ( this should have been explained better in video) always remember rule of thumb kids, enamel based panel washes are safe for over acrylic based paints or clear coats, like tamyia acrylic acrylic clear coats or stuff like future floor wax, or you can mix your own washes using thinned down oil based artist paints, or if your using an acrylic wash it's safe over enamel based paints or enamel clears coats.. stick to that rule of thumb and you should be safe..

Just used this on a chrome part of my big rig truck. It goes on easily. Don't use it on enamel paint. And avoid inhaling it. Use a mask to avoid fumes..

I used tamyia Enamel thinner to wipe off the smuges and it still went through the paint even with clear coat on

Do we need to use gloss top coat before using this one ? because i heard that this panel line will harm the plastic

You can use a pencil eraser to clean up extra panel residue

Have you every had trouble with enamel thinner dissolving lacquers?

I have clear coated my models and used this technique. However, the thinner doesn't remove the Tamiya panel line color. Is that why you used an enamel thinner to remove the acrylic panel line color?

Should I do something to help it flow like paint it with clear water in the recess to help flow aid, I remember someone saying never go in dry like with dry brushing

I have a Dmk bumblebee model kit which I’ve used acrylic soft tipped markers for it (silver colour) can I use the Tanitas panel lining liquid on it? I heard it the panel lining liquid makes the plastic abit brittle

I put a layer of Tamiya clear lacquer paint Lp-9 on my model plane over the Tamiya xf colours, but since I am using a brush the lacquer tends to get thick and cover some of the panel lines a bit too much leaving only the most deepest recesses available for panel line accent color. Can one use brush for lacquering or is this a bad choice or a matter of technique AND can I do something about the panel lines once they are covered in lacquer to ease adding panel line accent color?

It says on the bottle to use Tamiya X20 thinner to wipe off access. I tried that, but it didn't do a thing.

Hi, wondered if you (or one of your viewers!) could help please?! My partner has really struggled with panel lining and after watching multiple tutorials, he found THIS one really helpful!! 1. Initially, we were wanting to purchase Tamiya panel liner over ak, but noticed 1) it takes weeks to arrive, and 2) many sites advertise either panel liner, or panel liner accent colour...are these the same product?!! We really can't tell! 2) IS it worthwhile waiting for the Tamiya for c.£13, over AK for £6 next day delivery? 3) after watching, he's never been told before that you use it over GLOSS!?? he's been sooo frustrated that his never ran, or could be wiped off, but...that was always on matt...is that why?!! And...what gloss varnish do you recommend under the panel liner please!!!? Thank you very much in advance!! K n Jay 😊
