Remember, these are the soldiers that they’re willing to tell you about. Imagine the ones they stay quiet about

My dad retired in special forces as a Tech Sergeant. I learned all about hell week and the helicopter training. The crazy thing is that The Paratroopers in the Air Force aren't just super fit and hardcore survivalists, they train in engineering, programming and advanced medical training. Well at least my dad knew all that too.

Imagine you, are training in one of these army’s, suffering for 6 months of training, severe injuries, you finally make it your a official military soldier, wartime comes, you get deployed in battle only to be the first one shot dead, all those months, for nothing

While stationed in South Korea in 1983, my unit (I was the S2/Intelligence Officer of the 1/38th FA BN) took part in the joint US-ROK training war game known as Team Spirit. In March, it is still cold in Korea, with many rivers still frozen over. The ROK Ranger unit had to cross the bridge over the Han River to set up a bridgehead to allow our units to strike northward. These crazy (but committed) Rangers stripped to their underwear bundled their clothes and weapons in makeshift rafts and swam the fairly swift-moving, partially frozen, Han River. The look on the faces of the "enemy" on the far side of the river when their secure positions were overrun from their side of the river would have been priceless.

My dad was a navy pilot and retired as a chaplain with the rank of lieutenant commander. He told me about the helicopter exercise(he obviously completed). They blind fold you not just for confusion but also in case you crash at night

In 1975 two weeks after arriving at Fort Bragg, I was preparing to load the bus for the ride to Camp McKaw for the start of Special Forces Training. We had a chance for one last call to love ones. When I told my Mom I was a combination of nervous and scared, she laughed and said "well son, they can't eat you". Made no sense at the time but during the next few months it became very clear. Whatever happened I would do my best and life would go on. These are cute videos

I passed the "hell week" not in us army but it was worst exp. of my life. I got sick after that week and it almost kill me. Worst part of hell week is the time you try to sleep, you get 2-4h of sleep and after that you are supposed to be ready for 10 miles marathon. One of my friends got heart attack during that run. He luckily survived and leave the army, I dont reccomend anyone trying that shit if you are not 100% sure that you can pass it.
After that week we got 2 weeks to rest, in that 2 weeks I didnt leave the house. I was happy to se my wife, call friends, and just be alive. I got headache after even talking about this.

Thank you for reading and sorry for bad english.

These brothers and sisters are fighting for Motherland. There is no fame nor any reward. Just pure love for one's country. They are there only to give, be it sacrifice, love, time, and sometimes, unfortunately, life. Kudos to these sons and daughters of the motherland.

Army musicians in the British army are traditionally also stretcher bearers during battle, so yeah training them in muddy conditions is rather useful given the fact that a lot of battle fields get muddy over time.

*I live near the "Sunny Silver Strand where our U.S.A. Seals have training. The weather here is almost always sunny and warm. But the water is Cold. The water will be some of the hardest challenges they will encounter in training. The Seals have my respect.*
