I love playing 2...Bc4 against the KGD. If White blunders 3.fxe5 beware though: 3...Qh4+ 4.g3 Qxe4 5.Qe2 Qxh1 6.Nf3 and it can be tricky to get the queen back out. (I think best is 6...d5 7.d4 Bg4 8.Nbd2 Nc6 9.dxc5 Nd4-+?)

That pawn can never be taken in Kings gambit. The whole point of it is for black to take that pawn or ignore it and play normal chess while now having a slight advantage as black.

Anyone with one brain cell in their head that has studied the King’s gambit it’s not going to blunder the knight move, stopping the check. Or they’ll do the bishop variation and then they’ll move the King over one spot.
