I am on the fence about this because we haven't played clank a ton but I appreciate your honest reviews of games in general.

I like Clank! Adventuring party. I play with 3 players and enjoy the asymmetric player powers. My kid loves Monkeybot prime and I dont mind that at all. The react cards are supposed to reduce the boredom between turns but it kind of means you always need to pay attention and cant quickly hit the loo in between turns.

question about ape lord phantasm monster card.. if i slay that, do the other players get that benefit to return any monkey idol token or its effect just for me ?

The Monkeybot does seem a bit OP, however 2nd playthrough it didn't do as well (if I remember correctly). I quite enjoy this expansion I would rarely want to play without it because of the assymetrical player powers that spice up the strategy. I tried it once with more than 4 players and didn't feel like it slowed the game down, I think because the player powers offer more movement to get you across the board faster. Honestly it's been a year and a half since I tried it so I might not be remembering things correctly.

I saw the live episode the other day, extra clank and all ;), and the monkeybot seemed strong but so did the player. It might be a good choice for a new player or for solo.
Did you try Clank in Space? It seems interesting with the amount of modularity that it features.

I slogged through your Clank playthrough and it wasn’t like wading through cowshit ... maybe I should have taken My iPad out to the fields for the full experience. I did note that game time diverged from the 30-60 minutes claimed.

Clank! Is a successful and popular game that doesn’t push my buttons so I need have no opinion on expansions.

Pro: It's pretty cool you can play with 5 or 6 players.Comes in handy with my group.
Con: Playing with 5 or 6 players is naff. Makes the game too long.
