Psyched to inform everyone I found the old original Tomb Raider 1 beta level! In a box. In my house. For real. This is just the looping demo reel, I'll be exploring it properly in a future video. *No Audio is included*

My Dad used to work on the same building complex that Tomb Raider was first developed in Nottingham. He got the demo copy and brought it home. I was about 4/5 when I first played it and I just remember being stuck, never being able to progress because I was just so young and stupid. I just remember being at the mansion at the start of the game and there being a tiger there for some reason.

It's neat to see the original model animating in ways we didn't get to see back in the day, but it also gives me a new appreciation for now gracefully the finalized TR1 Lara moves. They sure polished the jump animations by release, didn't they? The way this model jumps reminds me of an Olympic track athlete doing a long jump into sand!

I'm always surprised by how red/auburn Lara's hair is in the classic games, even here with the beta model, yet nobody ever seems to think of her as a redhead!

Unpopular opinion perhaps but I like that the shades were removed. Realism might not have been the ultimate goal but I still think the shades would have been a silly addition but that's just me. The ponytail is cool though (although I'm fond of the bun). By the way, this is the best footage of the beta I've seen so far!

Oh my God. That's amazing! For as long as I know no one has ever found this beta version. I'm just a bit scared of Lara's eyes. It's like if she didn't have them, which is kinda creepy.
