US President Joe Biden has visited striking auto workers in the Midwestern state of Michigan - in an unprecedented show of support. It's the first time a sitting US president has joined striking workers on a picket line. The autoworkers union is demanding a 40 percent pay raise after years of concessions while US car-makers have reaped record profits.

I’m glad he’s doing this, he should be siding with the people. It’s just unfortunate he didn’t show this level of support when the rail workers were striking… in fact, he used his power to force them to accept a sub-par deal.

I've been pleasantly surprised by Biden a number of times now. I voted for him because he's [not Trump] but on policies he's been a lot better than I expected. A lot better than Obama for sure and that's a surprise.

Very important that a president shows solidarity to striking in the USA. Something Republican's have been trying to brand as socialism.

Unions keep capitalism in check so middle-class isn't crushed.
Capitalism unchecked grows to fascism.

Exciting. In Germany, politics must be strictly neutral in wage negotiations and industrial disputes such as strikes.
It doesn't always happen, but collective bargaining autonomy is looked at closely. When politicians take a public position for one side, it at least results in loud debates in parliament.

Auto workers are making crazy money, much more than the people who can barely buy the cars they make.

UAW workers really think they have some kind of special skill to be worth $50hr? Thats laughable. Auto manufacturers could take random people off the street, pay them a fraction of what Union workers make, and have no loss in production.

After he prohibited the rail workers from striking, sure.😂😂😂
His war criminal administration just entered panic mode since he is trailing Trump by more than 10% on a recent poll
