Peugeot 208 1.2vti wet belt replacement

little Peugeot 208 vti in for a timing belt replacement pretty straight forward using the correct timing tools. on this engine it is strongly advised that you remove the sump and clean the oil strainer out as the fibers off the belt can and will block the strainer so during the replacement make this a good practice procedure.

I changed mine on a 2015 108 1.2 still at 48k miles. Was scared of what I would fine and it actually looked barely worn (yes it was the mark 1 belt with yellow writing) . I've serviced every 8k miles since new with Total oil (recommended) so maybe that has helped. Think sometimes brands get hit harder than others by the type of owners, people who buy Toyotas pay more for then and look after them, people who buy French want the cheapest option and skimp on servicing/repairs. Becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy in the end .

You make this look way too easy, very skilful work. I live in Ireland, what would be a fair price for having this done, as I would like to ensure my car lives a long and healthy life and I'm at 60k miles 😊 Thank you

Does the oil pump also use a wet belt? If so, it needs a new one as well.

I have seen many of your 1.0 Ecoboost Wet Belt Videos & it looks like you have got it off to a fine art Baz. 👌👍👍

With regards to this Peugeot, it looks a lot easier. Is it though ?

No Torque Multiplier needed by the the looks of it ?

No secondary wet belt for the oil pump unlike the Ecoboost ?

yes 1.2 engine fitted to our engine fought with vauxhall for 6 weeks wet timing belt issue with a hidden service bulletin that they will replace only when customer complains disgrace had warranty wise policy no good alsoyou tick all the boxes as a customer and they still refuse to fix it
these engines will not last 100, 000 miles like the vw and the rest
wet timing belt breaks up and a very well known Clark company took my money for servicing and refused to help

Please, my 208 2014 1.2 VTi82 60 000miles, consumes 1l of oil for 500km.... could it be something obvious? (belt was replaced in 30k miles, and 55K miles by me).... changing oil by 6k miles. Total 5w40 9000 (not energy)

Belt usually survives but it’s the oil pickup that gets clogged up
