Presentation: “Mobile Health as an Opportunity to Reduce Waitlists and Tailor Mental Health Treatment”

A video segment of the 2020 University of Michigan Precision Health Virtual Symposium, September 23, 2020, Ann Arbor, MI.

Amy Bohnert, PhD, MHS, is Co-Investigator of the PROMPT Precision Health Study and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at U-M. She discusses the urgent need for innovations to both increase access to mental health care and meaningfully guide treatment, and how PROMPT is addressing those needs. PROMPT recruits individuals to wear a Fitbit to facilitate feedback tailored on mood scores, sleep, and activity, and to receive access to apps for cognitive behavioral coaching and mindfulness. The long-term goal of the study is to study how biological, behavioral, and social characteristics are associated with the success of specific treatments, so that future patients can be matched to the medication, counseling type, or mobile health app that will be most effective for that individual.
