How to clean a CNC machine and Replace the Coolant!

Показать описание
CNC sump cleaning and new coolant for the Haas VM3. Ed from QualiChem is here today to "muck the sump." We were in for a bit of a surprise when we removed the cover and saw the color of our old coolant...

The Chip Trapper and RO water from our mobile IBC tote made it easier on us but you don't need anything fancy to get the job done. We'll remove the old coolant, circulate cleaner, remove the cleaner, and rinse with a 1% mix coolant and water before fully recharging the machine. Ed is extremely knowledgeable and has great tips for keeping CNC coolant and machines at their best.

I'm glad he clarified that it was "RP" and not "Our Pee" because I was beginning to think that special additive wasn't so proprietary.

Ed has such a powerful stance! It's great to see someone both so keen and knowledgeable about what they do, and acting as such a great representative for their business. Good lad!

Man. It’s so nice to watch other people clean tanks. Started at a new job this year as an CNC machinist “apprentice” and in the first 2 weeks I cleaned 5 Mazak tanks. Not really a bad job. Just a super dirty job.

Funny I have spent the last 2 nights cleaning and scraping the goop in the sump of the big Monarch. Even after 3 flushes and a bunch of wire brush action it still looks like muddy slimy water. 1/2" of grease and coolant residue over an 18ft lathe is a LOT of dirt to clean up. I so wish my sump had been as clean as yours!!

Definitely bought a 1 micron filter after I saw the first 5 minutes of this vid for my shop vac in terms of sucking up oils and sediments. Thanks for this!

That was the cleanest dirty sump i have ever seen😂😂. He will probably faint if he sees our sump.

That was actually pretty clean sump. Still the cleaning was probably overdue, and you all did good job. Keeping it maintained regularly and tracked is important.

Great to see this whole process. Huge thank you.
'all coolant have a multiplier'. Humm I have not heard that from my coolant provider. Something to discuss with them.

pretty informative. Didn't even think that mold and other micro organisms could ever be a problem

My machinists hated cleaning day, my shop foreman said that the sumps smelled like a "sumo wrestlers jockey shorts" LOL. I question was, how do you know what that smells like. Thanks for sharing.

I had been using qualichem for few years now. Had great sump life. Then about 1.5 years I did a clean and fresh charge. They change make up because sump life sucks now.

Gday John, this is a great subject, I thought there would of been more fine chips in the bottom of the sump, I expected to see quite a thick layer in there, great video as always, thank you, Cheers Matty

As a Maintenance Tech I had to actually shovel piles of chips out of a large Coolant tank because of a broken screen on the chip conveyor. It was a huge pain in the rear!

What is the best way to wash the protective glass from the old coolant? When processing aluminum, a white plaque remains.

First?? Always appreciate the work you guys put in to your videos! This is especially applicable to our admittedly nasty VF-2 at school. Thanks!
