How to Guide: Softening A Balm

Показать описание
This is an easy way to soften and reduce the viscosity of any balm. The more oil you add, the softer and less viscous the balm becomes. Try using an oil that is already in your balm or add an entirely new oil to the mix, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

Equipment You'll Need
• Stovetop safe pot or beaker
• Measuring cups/spoon or scale
• Mixing utensil to stir the oil into the balm

Difficulty Level: Easy
Approximate yield: Approximately 1 lb

Ingredient Lbs Kitchen %
• Soothing Diaper Balm 1 2 cups 94%
• Grapeseed Oil 0.06 1/4 cup 6%

Directions

1. Heat Soothing Diaper Balm to melting 120F -130F - We found it melts nicely if heated and held to 132F.
2. Add Grapeseed Oil, no need to heat the oil before adding unless you are adding more than the amount above, then it’s a good idea to heat the oil slowly and gently to about 120F.
3. Mix completely and pour into packaging leaving the lid off but covering to prevent any dust or debris from landing in your jars. Let cool to room temperature and lid.

Please note that this recipe has not been challenge tested for preservation efficacy. If you use this recipe for market sales, it is up to you to ensure the safety of the product.

Hello - thank you for this video. How long do you think emulsions will stay stable for after adding oils in this way? Could this potentially break the formula or cause it to separate earlier? Thank you :)
