They were able to clap Thanos in that universe because if Xavier is there that means the X-Men is there plus the Fantastic 4 with Reed and Black Bolt with most of the Inhumans and who knows how many other supers are with them in that Universe. But for some reason Strange still needed to use the Dark Hold.
