The thing with Skye is probably just pure coincidence. Her clothes should be lighter so she can fly easier and she's a small dog, so she shouldn't have much weight on her anyway. Also, the Paw Patrol is rainbow themed, but pink matches Skyes character better so they probably just went with it.
