What Happens When You Treat EA WRC Like A Proper Rally Sim?

I'm a big fan of EA WRC but i'm acutely aware (you guys are brutal) that not everyone is. So what happens when you turn the settings to their most realistic whilst driving one of the most insane cars in the game?

If you enjoy the video then please hit that like button!

I really dig that chonky 80s aero! Something about the "we know aerodynamics is important, we just don't quite know how it works yet" vibe really does it for me.

"No chance of driving in real life... GT3" - Man who believed he'd never drive professionally at all, presently GT4 driver for a living

Jimmy is a GT4 guy saying he has no chance in hell at driving a GT3?
Give it a year or two, he'll be in that GT3 someday, just you watch.

Sure, driving a group B rally car is out of reach for most of us.
But, if someone offered me the opportunity, I'd probably still decline, because I like to be alive.

Jimmer, you’re a GT4 driver already and you’re on a respected sponsored team who is getting real results. You absolutely have a chance getting to GT3. You’re not just a shed-boy anymore

The longest stage in the game is actually in Chile, the stage called Pulperia, at a whopping 34.8 km or nearly 22 miles. This stage is probably the close second (not including the reverse of Pulperia named "Bio Bio")

Though Pulperia/Bio Bio is probably the longest on the clock, as they are much slower, twistier stages.

This really told me that this game needs a Group B mod where the entire population of the area is standing on and around the road and goes running for their lives when your car comes rocketing by.

Let’s get some _real_ realism in this game!

"It's not about being competitive, it's about enjoying the experience ". Profound words and philosophy, don't you wish more sim racers understood this? So many racers have their experience ruined by an over-competitive racer who cannot accept that they just aren't good enough to run at the front, can't accept they have been passed, aren't placed where they 'deserve'.
IRL any given race is filled with drivers that don't expect to win, but they enjoy finding their limits but without ruining other drivers races. Vintage/historic races in particular are where it's all about experience, with a pinch of competitive spirit added to keep it from being processional. I wish more sim racers understood this and drive with respect for others...good one Jimmer, you are still a premier ambassador for the sim world!

Well said, EA WRC is actually great game and definitely does not deserve all this hate. In full motion rig with proper H-patter and sequential it is extremely immersive. Also the telemetry model is great, big step up from DR2.0, stages are very well made and feel live - driving it in motion rig feels amazing. For me personally it is well worth all the time I put into it as it is very fun, interesting and has lot of new content compared to all the other WRC games I usually drive - quite refreshing.

1:14 I recognize that sound. It's the completely solid concrete truck they blew up / vaporized on Mythbusters!

Props to the editor for the "radio sound" used in the cockpit, I really liked that!

What timing! I just got into DR 2.0 in VR with callouts hidden from HUD.

The trees really do call out for you louder when your door pops off.

Sometimes it is crazy to think jimmy goes from IRL race driver by day and sim racer YouTuber by night

Jimmy's rallying videos are S-tier. We need MOAR!

I know this is a game but when that door comes off, I can't help but think of being impaled by a million twigs and branches as you crash sideways into the trees, with no door to protect you.

I never comment on videos, but I feel like I must share my thoughts.
After not even touching my sim setup for a couple of months, this video inspired me grab my wheel from the corner and try this same challenge.
I'm typing this comment with sweaty armpits and an aching back after what has been the most fun session behind the virtual wheel since I can remember.
As in the video Jimmy said, sim racing is not all about being competitive and fast all the time, sometimes the best parts are the ones where you drive horribly and flip the car over it's roof 3 times in one stage :D
Thank you Jimmy for inspiring me to get back behind the sim wheel and enjoying rallying again.

the trick to lumpy turbo cars is to keep on throttle a press the brake instead while still holding the accelerator, and then when youre pointing the right way let go and it bursts out of the corner, use brake sparingly to keep the turbo alive

Ripping the doors off my Volvo C30 tomorrow morning so I can get that same open-air 5-cylinder experience.
