The real reason is commercial real estate is all time low...

Shouldn't they just worry about the work being done and not about where it's done!?

I've worked remote since 2017, and work on average to about 9 at night after an 8:00 start. Making me add 2 hours travel to my day so that the oligarchs can smile is worthless and will reduce the time i actually work.

Well speaking as a federal employee who works remote we actually are constantly watched on much work we get done. If we dont show that we are working then we are banned from telework and are back in the office. For those of you who are saying that federal employees are not doing anywork when at haven't got a clue and should stay in your lane.

The way they talk, you'd think half of all employees are remote. 8% is nothing.

Remote work will be even more important now that there are bullies at work.

But Trump are still permitted to play golf during office hours and Musk isn't in his office when he is fooling around everywhere else. But of course the rules doesn't apply to them.

If the workers are doing their job, what does it matter where they work?

Perhaps we should look at productivity between 2019 and now

I have previously worked at the VA and the NIH, and some of our staff was in states 2 to 3 hours away. FYI, your supervisor can track your productivity. For example. My job was to take incoming calls. The calls are recorded and timed. When you clocked out for lunch or breaks that was timed. They know when you’re working and when you’re not. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This is why I tell people be careful what you vote for. WHY DOES IT MATTER IF YOU WORK FROM HOME!!?? It helps for people that can’t afford childcare!

remote work means you dont have to find someone to BABYSIT your kid because you leave for work at 6am and their school doesnt start until 7:30/8 am. same thing on the back end when they get home from school.

Of course, as federal employees themselves, they'll be in their offices on the Hill 8 hrs a day, 40 hours a week. No remote work for them either - right?

This literally didn't mention why they are pushing for people to go back to work, but we all know it's bad for commercial real estate if buildings aren't used for workers. There are definitely other aspects, e.g. food and coffee businesses affected, as well as selling of gas--this is why gas prices went down when the pandemic hit!--etc...it would ruin the infrastructure that they make they're money off of.

Yeah I think for some industries it's fine but at the end of the day, it's just about how much work is actually getting done. They should have a measure for it too
