Elektron Digitone Keys is UGLY! | My Thoughts

A music technology video about the new Digitone Keys made by Elektron. It's an FM synthesizer keyboard with a strange look. I give my unbiased thoughts since all the shills made reviews for a product that's not released publicly. The design of it is a bit ugly to say the least. It sells for $1300 USD while the OG Digitone is $750 USD. You can buy a MIDI keyboard for the original and say more money. The highlights of this new keyboard is the split feature and the portamento. I actually like it. It's a throwback to Elektron's classic Monomachine SFX-6. Thanks to the form factor you can put a couple of other Elektron boxes behind it without them being too far away to reach.

Reminds me of a mid 70's organ top synth (think MiniKorg !) Also if they put the mod wheels next to the keyboard it would be too cramped, the arm is relaxed at this reach. Finally the appearence is cool, it stands out, is very distinctive. All the negativity around this thing reminds me every time a manufacturer dares to be different by releasing an orange colour synth or something like that, everyone wants black with silver knobs. Price seems a little off though :)

I think the design is great ! Its very unconventional like the brand itself, i even used to had the SFX-6 from elektron which was a eyecatcher as well. And this thing is build like a tank from top to finish u get the best quality build wise, nothing compared to cheap manufactured from Korg or Roland! The keys and the extra fatures just will make u use the instrument more creatively compared to the standalone digitone. I love it and will definately get one! Its a good thing that everyone doesnt have the same taste.

It's an old design seen on the original Monomachine. It was quirky and stupid then and it is now too.

Everything Elektron makes is good quality but way over priced...
No "bang for your buck"

Left handed folks might like the layout but righties like me might wish the knobs were on the right. I would strongly avoid buying anything new electron until they work out their many production issues, such as those that plagued the RYTM mkII. They have poor quality control in my experience.
