Loved seeing the Silverado on the video! Those old trucks other than their transmissions are the best era of Silverado in my opinion

Randy that’s why I watch you, I learn stuff like how you jumped the pickup bypassing the Fuse 👍☺️

You should buy the Altima and return the teddy.

The C300 could be a nice fixer upper. That roll mechanism should just need resetting.

You should know that cylinder deactivation in the 5.3 didn't start till 07

I’m the old owner of the SE-R, aka Gonzo. Before it got claimed as a total loss, I was going to wrap it in a dark chrome blue. Sad I had to let him go. Be worn, the tranny is slipping!

Edit 1 (I’m just commenting while I’m watching the video) : The nickname people call this Is a 4dr Z. Because of it having the 350z engine.

Good morning Randy. The 2017 Mercedes is decent. The other 2 are decent.

The 5.3 in that particular Silverado was the LM7 Vortec 5300, and does NOT have AFM (Active Fuel Management). It is an LS-based engine, but not an LS. They also made a FlexFuel version in 2003-06 models, but I'm not sure of its designation. The Silverado in the video is a 1999-2002 model (pre-facelift).

I really would love to see that Altima on the channel. That said, Heads up In Advance randy.

Apparently those 3.5's tend to have the valve guide seals go out prematurely and it causes he car to burn oil on startup and when standing still. I saw a tiny bit of smoke when you when to the back of the exhaust.

It happened to me. I had an infiniti I35 with the same engine. The oil couldn't pass all the through the engine probably. So it would burn through the exhaust when I start it. And it would smoke like like a bbq grill on startup.

Still hope to see it on the channel. Just keep that in mind

I believe when they redesigned the Silverado in 1999, they got rid of the 5.7 and replaced it with the 5.3. I don't have any experience with the 5.7, but the 5.3 is reliable, powerful, smooth in my opinion. I have a 2001 Silverado with the 5.3, similar to that truck, except mine is lower mileage and 4WD, and aside from it being a gas pig, it's a good truck. I see no reason to replace the vehicle with a newer truck. I even replaced the deck with an Android Auto one last year.

The rockers are a bad spot for rust in the 2000 - 2004 Silverados. They pretty much all rust there. The 5.3 in the truck you reviewed is not one of the problematic engines.

The Vortec is just a slightly detuned engine based on the LS platform with different heads and intake manifold. The Vortec used cast iron where the LS uses aluminum.

As a former employee at Nissan in Smyrna Tn. they did make an Altima SE-R And the model you want to look for is the manual 6 spd. they also produced a Maxima around the same time with a 6 spd. manual trans. Both models are very strong runner's But the sad thing with Nissan vehicles once they hit 200, 000 miles they become a ticking time bomb ....

Man those chevy silverados last a good long time taken care of. My best friend has one with 495k miles almost a quarter of a million miles. My uncle also has one with I think 709k miles these trucks are beasts

Buy the silverado Randy. That's nothing for the rust on the Rockers around here in Indiana they're considered mint when the Rockers are completely gone. Literally any motor you get from the junkyard will have less miles than the truck and it'll probably only take about a day to swap it
