The whole thing about the ordeal with the wet bandits is all in Kevin's head is kind of ridiculous and is debunked when Peter finds Harry's gold tooth on the floor. As for old man Marley showing up to save Kevin with his shovel, that is easily explained in the window scene with Buzz when he talked about how every night he walks up and down the streets salting the sidewalks. Marley was out salting the sidewalks, like every night, he sees Kevin run across the road towards a neighbor's house and hears him say "I'm Calling the cops" and two men chase him across the street. He follows with his shovel in hand and when he enters the house and hears what the bandits plan to do, he takes action and saves Kevin.

Uncle Rob paid for the tickets... Peter is a business man, a high ranked sales executive for Walgreens and Kate is a fashion designer... this is all in the novelization... people love to make crazy theories though😆
Great video as always Minty 😊👏👏👏

Wow! I was telling everyone on the last watch that it was magic that knocked out the power and started this whole thing. No one agreed but as the scene played a few people acknowledged that it certainly is presented that way. Glad you agree

I saw this on Instagram recently. A post saying "obviously the Mom was also making a lot of money not just the Dad". They note the great pant suit collection she has, and speculate that she works in the fashion industry due to the sewing machines etc in the basement.

The magical wish theory holds merit. It also explains why the wet bandits didn't die from their injuries

I believe there was also a theory on Old Man Marley that the reason he shovels and salts was because he was supposed to one day, but didn't and because of this, his wife slips and dies and that's what causes the rift between him and his son.

They literally say in the movie that Peter's Brother in Paris paid for the family to go to Paris for the Holidays so they can be together.

Hearing Minty say "what an asshole" was fuckin HILARIOUS! Accurate too! Frank was trash!

I watched this moving 100s of times growing up and always believed it was Santa teaching Kevin a lesson. Kinda of a weird Christmas Miracle. He passed his test and his family arrived on Christmas aka the Miracle. That means his mom would have made it just the same but due to a mother's love she couldn't wait but never would have made it earlier. She arrived exactly when she was supposed to.

I agree with the magic theory. It makes sense and keeps it a Christmas movie free of sinister undertones.

I always liked how the relationship between Kevin and Old Man Marley developed, from the cartoonish to the two really fleshed out personalities.
So that theory about time travel really appeals to me.
It is interesting that Marley makes sure that Kevin gets home after rescueing him, but Marley apparently never questions about Kevin being alone. It's as though Marley knows Kevin will be alright alone in his house, safe until his mom gets home in the morning.
Marley must've already known he was ok, because he and Kevin are indeed the same person.

There is the counter theory that Gus was an angel travelling with a band of angels masquerading as a polka band. And they helped Kevin’s mom get back to him.

4:11 - If Peter McCallister was indeed a Mob boss, I'm willing to bet that the Wet Bandits would know to stay out of his neighborhood, and wouldn't be targeting those homes. The would get whacked. 🤔

Great theory Minty, I think you're right about the wish being the cause of it all. Especially with the zoom in on the santa.

The Gus devil theory is one I really like. There is the addition points of him saying 'Allow Me To Introduce Myself' which is the opening line to Sympathy For The Devil by The Rolling Stones and the devil is said to play wind instruments.

Magical wish theory makes complete sense, especially with the full moon x

Unfortunately, the one guy that could confirm or deny ALL those crazy theories, John Hughes is sadly not alive anymore... 😔

If Mr McAllister was a mob boss the entire bandits wouldn't mess with his house .

I remember the jigsaw theory. Macaulay even poked fun at it. ‘Haha apparently I’m Jigsaw.’

If Kevin grows up to become jigsaw Home Alone must take place in the 60s. It doesn't make sense
