Some of the highest paid workers in the country

The real problem is bloated CEO pay, private jets and golden parachutes. Run a business into the ground and the CEO still walks away with millions. Meanwhile, the workers are asked to take pay cuts, benefit cuts, work more hours for less, etc. Greed at the very top is killing America.

The UAW are skilled workers. They deserve a higher wage. These people aren't taking your order at Mcdonalds, their building your cars and trucks.

Here come the robots to take the last of the jobs. There won’t be any more workers to strike.

Its very sad to see how divided this country has become.
This comment section is truly mind boggling.

If you think this is bad, wait till all 50K of those people get replaced by automation .

Zero sympathy for GM. Zero sympathy for GM's employees.

If GM was building vehicles with the quality of Toyota/Lexus or Honda/Acura, then, that would be a different story, but they aren't, and they haven't for 50 years.

Ford, GM, and Chrysler have had 50 years to figure out WHY the quality and longevity of their vehicles pale in comparison to those of their Japanese and German counterparts, and yet they either "can't" figure it out OR they do not "want" to figure it out.

If the CEO's (for the past 50 years) had any sense, they'd be embarrassed, but they're too busy laughing their way to the bank, spending all the golden parachute money they got when they were fired.

The sad news is that 50k workers used to be hundreds of thousands! Their bargaining strength is gone.

I used to drive a truck delivering car seats to the Oklahoma city plant. We drove in ice, snow, wind, rain, didn't make any difference what type of weather and had to be there on time. If we shut down a line we had to pay the wages for those affected by us not being there, we never once shut them down BUT, when we got there them bastards in the receiving area screwed us to death. We would be there for a minimum of 6 hrs for a job that only took 30 minutes to unload. I was told by one of the lift drivers he only had to unload two truck a day. When we lost the contract with GM and I knew I was making my last run I waited till I was unloaded with my paperwork in my hand and told the lift driver I hoped I live enough to see everyone of you useless MFer's lose your job. Gee, they ended up shutting that plant down. I wouldn't buy there shit if I could afford it. You should have never been bailed out a few years ago, should have shut you down then. Here's to all you autoworkers ✌️ take away the index finger.

GM won't be getting bailed out again so they have to become profitable. These workers are slitting thier own throats.

This is why all of the companies are coming down south. Unions were needed years ago...not so much now.

Stay away from GM products,   Ford builds the best cars and trucks and has for the past 50 years.

And people are supposed to buy overpriced crap from GM because of their greedy union workers? I’ll stick with non union superior products Honda and Toyota.

I don't know why the people should fear the government and the corporations when voicing their demands. Workers have far more influence on the economy and should make the oligarchy know that we're not afraid to demand a deal.

I work in the Auto industry in manufacturing. I am a UAW member. These people were offered a good deal and they said it was not enough. Sorry but the workers in this are wrong.

My dad, brother and I worked at Electro-Motive in LaGrange, Illinois. Just a couple of years after the strike in the early 70’s, the plant moved to Canada.
