Honestly, people are disappointed that he didnt get to die. But this was never a story about death. It was a story about him searching for a reason to live, which he did. He has friends now, something he didn't have for ages. Heck, you can call them a family and it wouldn't be wrong.

At the end when he felt he was ready for death he actually finds what he needed this entire time. A true reason to live and people he truly wishes to help and be with. Life truly is unpredictable.

He was the hero who save the humanity from the Demon Lord, then he is treated as monster by humans just because "he's too strong". The King even tried to hunt him down and killed him simply because he's afraid the hero will become evil and take over the world.

It's sometime cool to see the plot when human are the true enemies while the so called demonkin that is supposed to kill because they are evil are more kinder than those human
