I think the background music, captioning, etc. are all fine. Life is good if these are your complaints.

3:21 im almost certain the image used is of Pentecost island in Australia not pentacost island Vanuatu.
It appears to be linderman group in the background as well.

Oh, a video drop the literal second I went back to my desk after lunch. Excellent!

And because people will inevitably be like "how can you watch at work, you lazy man?!", factboi's channels do just fine as listening-only material.

Breaking coconuts on the devotee's heads symbolically represents freeing yourself from your past and surrendering yourself to God.
Legend has it that once the devotees prayed to Lord Shiva for his help, the trident holding deity refused to appear. Coconuts having three eyes represented Lord Shiva. They started breaking it on the head to please the God. Pleased with the deeds of His devotees, Lord Shiva appeared before them and granted their wish. The British story is only one of the legends behind the ritual.

It says a lot that the most unbelievable part of the legend is that the British stayed true to their word.

Pain and adrenaline are sometimes used by indigenous shamans and spirit workers as one of a number of altered states techniques that enable people to communicate with spirits and/or travel to spirit worlds. Other techniques include things like ritual, prayer, drumming, entheogens, sexual practices, sauna/sweat lodge, etc. In a number of indigenous cultures, shamans are considered to be "chosen" for the job by spirits, as evidenced in some cases (e.g. Siberian shamanism) by undergoing a severely life-threatening chronic mental and/or physical illness in childhood or adolescence that is often accompanied by visions of being dismembered and reassembled differently by spirits. Becoming a shaman is a calling that plays a vital role in the shaman's own recovery. This death/rebirth process is thought to transform the energy body of the shaman so that it can channel intense energies involved in spirit work. Most of my background in this area is related to the Northern Tradition branch of Norse/Anglo-Saxon Paganism, which has several scholars of indigenous religions among its elders.

By contrast to shamanic initiation, tribal initiations like the ones described here are open to everybody in the tribe, though I would imagine the attending shamans would likely be calling on tribal spirits as part of the initiation.

In regards to things like human sacrifice, it's easy for posh urbanites to wag their fingers while their taxes are going to do things like arming genocides that are far enough away that they don't care. It never went away for so-called civilized folk, either.

This got my attention because I knew a guy who basically does this every year [UK] He just knows that the best way to harvest and make the yummiest elder flower cordial is the get right up the tree. Then the actually easiest way to get down is just jump and let the branches brake your fall especially when the lowest branches are only 5ft off the ground. Crazy to watch.

By far not worth making the list but I personally find the graduation ritual or challenge in the Iya valley in Japan interesting. It''s basically standing on the cliff sides or the valley as close as possible and pissing down.

If I had to choose one, I'm definitely doing the one that have you hunt a lion solo. Not because I'll win, cause even if I lose, my gravestone would still say, he fought a motherfcking lion. And if I do happen to win, I just have to make one change to my gravestone, saying "He fought a Motherfcking Lion and Won".

By far, without a doubt, the worst Manhood Ritual/Rite of Passage anywhere on Earth is the Subcision Ritual practiced by Australian Aboriginal Tribes.
If you think circumcision is bad, subcision is a whole 'nother level of messed up.

I noticed these are allmale oriented or no gender preference. Are there similar female rituals?
Also, I know of several rituals not mentioned, perhaps another video could cover more?

To be fair, binge drinking truly DOES belong on this list, not just as a joke in the intro. We all scuff at “those barbaric non-western things”, but binge drinking has just as many risks and even potential lifelong consequences.

This video is a reminder, that not all humans are intelligent and some have really outrageous beliefs that are obviously the ideas of a fool to the more intelligent and more educated people.
