The free side is called Barking Springs, where you can bring your pets coolers. The paid side is the Austin public pool that has strict rules on what is allowed in, no coolers, or pets

Your risk in getting sick swimming on the non-pay side that’s the creek where everything washes down into including animal feces and urine😂 just pay the 10 bucks. It’s a way better experience on the pay side and there’s a diving board.

Water is kinda cold, and rocks are very slippery, other than that it's cool

I would rather pay $10 to have a cozy time in the water than getting knocked over every 2 min

omg is this during a music festival or something? I moved away in 2007 and never saw it like this ever.
It was very rare to see anyone on the free side. I would go snorkel... this was before the invasive grass took over. This just makes me look sad. It looks like the tubing the river photos from the 90s. This can't be good for the delicate ecology of the springs
