An excellent video. Imagine me thinking that a bunch of people would be shoveling ballast, not a three foot narrow gauge track laying machine. 🙂 That is awesome. I think that I now have a need for a new model on my old layout. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. 💙 T.E.N.

I've seen a couple videos of D&S and Broad Top track work and oftne surprised just how deep they dig down. narrow gauge historically had been "lay it on the land" type of construction. I know they have modern safety regulations they need to abide by, but I rarely ever see even class one mainlines dig a 2 to 3 foot trench and drop the rail down inside of it. I mean, Ive seen them dig the trench, but that's subroadbed work, they only drop the rails after they build up the subroad up out of trench.

Crazy how they’re building rail with rail clips instead of spikes! Maybe metronorth should take some notes…

Using Pandrol clips versus rail spikes. Those have to be installed at time of install because they are captive, at least for concrete sleepers. Seen all over the world now.

115 lb rail huh? That's mainline stuff for 3'6" gauge track with 119 ton locomotives going 70 mph.
Serious stuff, that'll be there for a while
