This time on the Ident review, we head over to BBC Three, to take a look at probably the most iconic rebrand they had, back in 2008!

Due to a copyright claim, I've had to replace the music for 45 seconds of the video. Because the replacing system YouTube offers is incredibly basic, it overlays any audio, not just music. So my usual opening 'Hello and welcome...' etc, had to go. This was the only way in which I could keep the video up and fully visible without completely deleting and re-uploading, which was the last thing I wanted to do.

Hope you all understand. Other episodes of the Ident Review have been affected in a similar way, so any video that has this as the pinned comment will have replaced audio, and the timestamp as above from where you can enjoy the episode as intended

"Outro" I remember being before Russell Howard's good news which aired for the first time on October 22nd 2009... Good Times! I miss BBC three being a physical channel.

There are some rumours of BBC Three returning to TV, in fact the BBC seems to encourage it despite not actually confirming it entirely, but overall I'd say it's likely for the channel to return to a linear space, as audiences are already glued to Netflix and the like and the BBC know that they simply can't compete with the success of certain shows. Quality, not quantity.

Overall, these idents did give me a nostalgic feeling, especially as I usually only watched Three for some of their music coverage and occasionally spotted a good Family Guy or American Dad rerun when I couldn't get to sleep in some nights. Nowadays I usually look at this look as the peak of the channel, as from then on I feel that it went through a slow and painful decline, not only in really programming but mostly for the fact audiences weren't going to stick around after a Family Guy/American Dad rerun to catch whatever BBC Three would stick on. Now that those shows are on ITV2, I think BBC Three can come back with a clean canvas and with it's own output which could compete with popular British youth channels like E4 and ITV2 as they are creating their own content instead of acquiring stuff which isn't theirs.

This is the ident I requested! Thank you soo much Adam!! I remember most of the ident because when I was younger I was allowed to watch family guy (because I didn’t understand English fully). I remember when the lightbulb ident came on before Chicken Run! Memories. Soon can you do BBC Scotland’s new idents?

I use to remember those idents back in like the era of 2008-2013. BBC Three used to air Family Guy and American Dad. Then in 2016, those shows where now on airing on ITV2 since BBC Three was moved from the station.

Adam I just got word that BBC is reviving the BBC3 channel at the beginning of 2022 to mark the company's centennial 100th years anniversary celebration

Great Review, this takes me back to the days of We Are Klang, How Not To Live Your Life, Lunch Monkeys and of course Family Guy! Back in 2008 - 2009 I would literally have BBC Three on all day. I’d always tune in at 7pm bang on the dot and watch it to the wee hours! Man, nice to relive my life as a 12 - 13 year old. ❤️

This channel is coming back on February 1st to mark the 100th anniversary of the BBC
it will go back to CBBC closing at 7pm instead of 9pm and BBC3 running the usual times lot of 7pm-4am

It will kick off its revival with a big 45-minutes launch party simulcast on radio BBC1 Radio FM

The programs for launch night will include:
The Catch-Up
Cherry Valentine: A Guppy, Queen & Proud
Eating with My Ex (no really that's actually the name of the show)
Fleabag
Larry Susan
RuPaul Charles' Drag Race UK VS THE WORLD
60 Seconds opening each broadcast day (possibly)

The programs for launch week might include
American Dad
DON'T Tell the Brides
Disney-Fox' Family Guy
Gavin & Stacy
Top Gear

I'm not sure if these are the right shows for the first seven days of the channel's comeback. All I know is the first day lineup
