I'm from Argentina and I just want to say, please Canadian friends don't let the government step over your rights to defend yourselves because they'll slowly start to creep up and they take more and more freedom out of you and you'll end up like here in South America where you can't own any type of firearm to defend yourself but you see criminals going around with any type of firearm that they got illegally killing hard working people and not being able to defend your life or your property while the government watches and do nothing. Since the beginning of countries, politicians have always said they will never disarm their citizens, but once in power, immediately disarm the public. Hunted with a buddy not 10 days ago and had this exact conversation as we drove through Southern AB. "Assault" weapons now, semi auto next. Didn't even think about detachable magazine. Oh well... Canada's over as we know it so not surprising. May the provinces pursue independence and rebuild.

Small note to add as I don't believe it was mentioned. On the list some of the banned guns, by name, are some bolt action rifles and pump action shotguns.
