It's been my experience that many civilians are nervous to buy anything other than an ETF. (As opposed to individual stocks). I would not have guessed that 15 years ago.

A suggestion: It would be great if you could have Ed Yardeni on the Compound Podcast. He has a wealth of information that goes back decades as well.

PS - Mutual Funds suck, big time - like you said the capital gains tax at the end of the year is a doggy downer! ETPs and ETFs should take over 401k accounts if the mutual fund industry would get their act together. I believe the mutual fund industry does not want to forgo the "fees" from administering mutual funds and competing with ETFs.
