The legend in Mexico is

She is married and has two children but when she found out that her husband was cheating on her she took her children and drowned both of them in a fit of rage and when she stopped what she was doing she was consumed by guilt and regret and she drowned herself as well and when she wanted to enter the Afterlife they said she couldn’t because she didn’t have her children with her and that her children’s souls were still wandering on Earth so she was sent back here to find her poor children’s souls 🥀🖤

i live in Pakistan, and the Pakistani version of la llorona goes like this:
When you walk or roam around the streets of Karachi at night around 2 or 3 am, then you would often see a women wearing a red dress looking around for her kids or husband i dunno. Men mostly see her because she can attract men, women rarely see her for i dunno what reason :/.
