Crawler Canyon Presents: Servo Testin' Time, Reefs RAW 800LP

preview_player
Показать описание
Running the gauntlet today,

The Reefs RAW 800LP, low-profile high-torque servo, rated for 6.0-8.4V use. The servo is tested at the mfr. specified voltages of 6.0, 7.4, and 8.4 volts.

The "New Canyon Protocol" tests servos piped through a Hobbywing 1080G2, which is running off of a regulated power supply. This will (I hope) provide as close is as practical to real-world stall torque numbers.

I have one. I needed the low profile for servo behind axle clearance reasons and not weight savings.

Nice review. I have 16 Reefs servos in my fleet so far, and have had great luck with all of them. My SCX6 has a Beast 2000 in it, talk about a bonkers servo 😂

Awesome as always the format and rig are looking good 👍

Thanks I just won one now I know running at 7.4 is fine that’s what I’ll do

Love these tests. My only addition for your consideration is that while torque goes up with a shorter horn, you are losing a bit of the speed. Angular velocity is constant (ish) but linear velocity at the closer connection is lower. That might dampen the speed a tiny tiny bit

Stall torque is what all I go after when I install servos. Miss conception is I would rather have the speed on the throttle side. Oh by the way you gave me your hebbie jebbies watching your videos. Just kidding, boy it’s going around. Takin vitamin C and Alka-Seltzer cold & cough. Dang I hate feeling like this. At least your videos get me through it. Oh and the Reef servos

I like this new testing method, but it would be cool to see side by side the 1080 results versus direct power results from the old method.

I have this servo on an SCX10 Pro....and it's total overkill. That said, I wanted a low profile servo and it was only a few more dollars than the 500lp at the time of purchase. Love the channel and content!

What you have to remember about your amp reading is that what you see is what the ESC draws at 12.6 volts. Current draw from the ESC by the servo at 6 volts is going to be roughly double, assuming 100% efficiency. Since 100% efficiency is impossible, we can safely assume that the BEC is maxing out. It would be interesting to test one of those big power servos with a 10 amp BEC to see if the internal BEC is limiting power.

From gates to servos in a mouse click 😊

Never had a Reefs. They're hard quite hard to source in Europe with decent price and selection.

I love your pitt crew when are u going to put them to work😁

Please do make a servo test on a rhino T70 also.😊

These kind of things are the things I shop for at Black Friday sales or a main coupons

Basically I save the points and coupons and use them on these boutique things so I don’t feel bad. Lol

Would really like to see you test the reefs raw 500hd servo. No one has done a stall torque test or bench test with it. Though it seems to be a crowd favorite servo. Which is a receiver powered servo.

As well as I just got one myself, my first reefs raw 500. For now will be powered by the internal bec of the fusion se rtr in the redcat ascent fusion. Which is a fixed 7.4v continuous 4a bec. I would like to know the amp draw at 7.4v. If it is similar in draw to the 800lp, I would have to go to a fusion pro with it's adjustable 6v-8.4v continuous 6a internal bec or add a external bec.

Want to have maximum performance from the servo without overloading the esc internal bec / having brown out issues.

Anyone else hit the thumbs up before watching the video...? Oh, yeah me neither! Eh-hum (whistles looking around the room...)

Hopefully I hadn’t missed it but has anything else half height come across your desk that you’d recommend? I’m working on a Wraith 2.2 at the moment and wouldn’t mind moving the servo back a bit to clear the horn on the cage but then the back becomes a problem.

This looks pretty shit hot but in Dollaridoos it’s the equivalent of a modest hatchback.

So many gates hit because I let off the wheel to fast and my rig tossed the back end around. <sigh>

Reefs or nsdrc? I like that reefs plugs into rx but I like price of the 500b. Also would the 500b good for a vrd? Running the big brass wheel and prov going to do wheel weights

My power setting was set at 78% before I reprogrammed it I may have missed it, did you program it before you tested it?
