Yes the lyrics were written by the late Freddie Santos way back in the 80’s. He wanted me to help write music for an original Filipino musical First Name. This was the first song written for it.
His were the lyrics while I wrote the melody to it.

In a recent Interview Gary spoke about arranging the song and how he tried to guide her to his vision for it, but the most important thing was he told her "Mori, People know you can sing, they have heard you sing..I dont want them to hear you sing I want them to hear your heart", And she delivered...as always.

Morissette became a born-again Christian a couple of years ago. Because she sings with her God-given talent, in my humble opinion, it tells me that she was not "acting" when she sang this in one take. It came from within her heart and soul, her love for our Almighty Father. I'm certain she has gone through some things, in her life, that made her connect to these beautifully written lyrics, hence the tear she sheds at the end. But, I'm almost certain that she sang it to all of us who have been and are going through tough things in our own lives. She sings this to tell us and remind us that all we have to do is ask Him to heal us, to teach us, forgive us as well as deliver us from all that we go through daily. She is a stupendous artist no matter what she sings because she does have the unique ability to tell the story of the lyrics and make us feel the emotions of the words. Thank you for your reaction. She is one in a billion and I can only hope millions of other find out who she is and through her, learn that you don't have to be a cookie-cut artist and lower yourself to a music industry that promotes sinful behavior, disgusting fashion, vulgar lyrics, etc. to be an incredible singer!!

This song was composed (lyrics) in 1988 for a play called FIRST NAME, by F Santos (Fred Santos passed on late 2020), and Gary V. composed the music (arranged/orchestrated). Gary would usually include this song in his concert repertoire since early 90s. So many ppl have been inspired, moved by this song.
