There have been numerous times where a female lion discovers a newborn prey animal like a buffalo or antelope and because the baby doesn’t run mothering instincts kick in instead of prey instincts. They adopt the baby sometimes caring for it for months. But then one day the baby spooks and runs and the mother or another lion kills it. They grieve the loss and eat their meal at the same time. It’s heartbreaking

I know everyone is saying they prefer the softer tones of the original, but I think the hardcore breakdown in the bridge works. Going by the lyrics, it's a wolf's struggle with its animalistic instincts, and the constant pressure of holding it back causes it to explode. Ultimately, the wolf gives into its primal urges and the final verse is coming down from that high and realizing what it had done.
I think its a nice touch, but if you don't, that's completely cool too.

Just realized the last lyrics "so why don't just stay here under my tail." could have a double meaning here. Maybe I'm stupid for just realizing this, but while the lyric is written as the literal tail of a dog, it could also potentially be read as "under his tale". As in, under his formulated realty/lie.

I think I prefer this cover over the original! This one I can hear the lyrics better, the sudden rock touch gives off a different but very fitting emotional appeal that works well with the theme the song always had, and the ending where it slows back down again always puts me at a sense of peace. Great work!
