I usually use my Wise(transfer Wise) card to pay in the local currency and it is converted at mid market rate and is always cheaper than paying via other cards. There are similar options to pay via Indian cards as well, niyo card being one of them.

Not sure why this is the case with INR/EUR conversion, but in case you have a EURO bank account NEVER choose € when paying at a POS terminal or even withdrawing money from an ATM. Your bank rates are always better than the ones from the retailer. Choose the local currency, always.
