Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV Review - Why I purchased this camera.

My take on this very capable and compact camera from Olympus, the OM-D E-M10 Mark IV.

I shoot an E-M5.iii most of the time, my second OM-D, having delightfully worn out an original E-M10, now totally eclipsed. Favorite lens is probably the 17mm f1.8 clutch gizmo. The feature I like most on E-M5.iii is the sensor-based PDAF, which goes directly to the focus lock rather than by successively smaller approximations, so-called CDAF but slightly slower, no biggie. As I think about carrying a second camera I do tend to contemplate an E-M10.iv, but always decide it would make more sense to have an identical camera, mainly because the ISO buttons are different. In particular, the grip on the E-M10.iv is beguiling. I agree with comments about tilt-panel in mild preference on the E-M10 models over the flippy, fold-out panels on the more expensive models. I generally take six or seven lenses out, in a small bag, and feel totally liberated by the flexibility and power of the system. I am somewhat tempted to try the electrically telescoped kit lens 14-42mm to really blur the line with a truly compact camera. All this talk about pocketability is fashionable, but I think the dividing line on who you are with respect to your camera is whether you think the strap is a very good thing or a pain. With it over your shoulder, the camera comes to your eye very quickly, not as a second thought.

I’m trying to get a lens hood for this camera but I’m being told that since the Olympus E-M10 Mark IV is “collapsible”, that no lens hood was made for or will fit on this camera. How can I get a lens hood on my camera like the one you have in this video?
