I remember when i dreamed of this movie a day before i ever seen it.. I couldn't see the warriors faces but I was there with a bunch of children who were very unhappy and we had to be quit all the time with a bunch of nuns standing over our heads! When I seen the white buildings they destroyed on the island in the movie I knew it was the same place from my dream a night before.. Nothing but honour & sympathy for these ppl in my heart forever🙏💔

It’s an amazing movie. It’s a reminder of the cruelty that man can impart on other human beings. If a Time Machine were to exist, I would go back to change history just to seek justice upon millions of African people, as well as Native Americans all over the continent of America. I know I will change history to the point that I may not exist, but I would at least save millions.

Very good movie! The one historical mistake is at 1:44, the Capital dome shown in the movie was not built until the American Civil war in the early 1860's.. At this time, it was just a low circular dome roof without pillars.

Most of Matthew McConaughey’s career is a retrospective to me, but I always thought this was where he began to prove he could do more than romcoms

its been forever since i watched it. during the first 10 minutes I was in doubt whether I should continue watching. After all the horrible ordeal of slavery was presented to all to watch ... like entertainment. My initial choice to watch it in the first place was to get further informed on the subject. Since reading was hard for me at the time since decades, due to an eye coordination problem, I decided to watch the movie to get, as I mentioned, a bit of more knowledge on the subject. But as I said, I was uncomfortable watching it, it being presented as entertainment.

Steven Spielberg did a decent job handling considering it is such a sensitive subject. I had moments during the film where I struggled with the content and the fact that it's a movie (entertainment). But overall, like I mentioned, the movie was done in a respectful manner, even though it obviously contained scene where torture and maltreatment of fellow humans was shown.

Respect to Spielberg and his team. It's not a movie to watch with your kids on family movie night. Don't treat it as entertainment. It's not. It's a serious subject. Important to get informed about but treated with respect for the victims and all who suffered and their offspring.

Martin Bosma (speaker of the house in the Netherlands) should get informed, or, in case he already is informed (?), should show respect and adjust his arrogant, insulting, hurtful attitude regarding the issues and those that are the offspring of those that suffered through the hands of our ancestors and likewise of a few other nations. To many of these the slavery never ended entirely.
