I like rap. I just don't think it goes with this song, hence the decision to painstakingly eradicate all the rap vocals.

So glad to find the version without the rap which I feel like just clashes with the message of the song

This song is like candy, better without rappers. (wrappers)

In my opinion the rap just ruined the song and this song is great!

"How could I help you with your goal" and "I truly enjoy this vibe this young lady is putting in the air" type of feelings when listening to this.

Thanks for making this. You can get the original gist, with the enhanced sound that today's studios offer, whilst not forgetting Lesley Gore's original version :) Great music lasts down the years - this song is up there with the best!

You don't own me
You don't own me

You don't own me
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys

Don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
Please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display

You don't own me
Don't try to change me in any way
You don't own me
Don't tie me down cause I'd never stay

I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
And I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please

Don't tell me what to do
And don't tell me what to say
Please, when I go out with you
Don't put me on display

You don't own me
I'm not just one of your many toys
You don't own me
Don't say I can't go with other boys

I don't tell you what to say
I don't tell you what to do
So just let me be myself
That's all I ask of you
I'm young and I love to be young
And I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please

Huh! Hey!
Ohh-oh noo
Ohh Noo no-oh
Hell No no no-ooh
Don't, you don't
Hey!
You don't own me
You don't own me

This is a wonderful clean edit of the song itself. Thank you for putting that on your channel.

As a huge fan of Lesley Gore, I think Grace did an excellent cover. Kudos to both singers!
PS: Thanks for this edit. I'm not a fan of rap and I have no plans of listening to Grace's cover with the rap part. lol

Great version of this classic. I loved the original of this song almost 60 years ago by Leslie Gore first released in 1963. I was 8 years old when I first heard it on my little 8 transistor “high fidelity” portable radio. I got the 45rpm vinyl record for my 9th birthday that year and absolutely wore it out. The flip side was “Run Bobby, Run.” I still have that record.

I think that the rap totally kinda ruined the song except when Grace sings

Leslie Gore sent us this angel to keep the reminder that NO ONE is the property of anyone and we are all independent and deserve to be treated as such. I'm in my 60's and I have loved this song since it's release in 1963. Wow how the world was so different then when people actually cared about one another and today, no one cares about anyone other than themselves.

The rap ruined the song because it just shows an independent and confident woman getting won over by some random dude

Bless you! I have been searching for just this version. I fell in love with this song over 30 years ago now when I heard it on a vinyl sung by the Lennon Sisters. Keep up the good work!

Thank you very very much for this beauty!
This version is like a breath of fresh air comparing to that unbearable rap version.
