You can fill with a liner depending on size of space that being said it's easier to tear up skin if u don't know what ur doing and can also be quicker with a shader it kinda depends on the style of lettering and the artist comfort/efficiency

Hey I'm Leo, I loved your YouTube video on calligraphy and graffiti tattooing. You popped up on my feed a few times and I had to check you out. I'm also into lettering and I've been doing it for a long time. It helped me a lot when I was in secondary school and had some special needs. I was one of the first students to take GCSE art in my school and I picked calligraphy as my subject. My teacher was amazing and taught me the basics of calligraphy and how to use it for storytelling and creative writing. I'm not very good at art though, I just do sigils now and then on my tablet. That was 25 years ago in the UK. Now isn't popular, I see alot of body art. I appreciate you sharing your skills with us. You've show me something new, even though I'm just a hobbyist and not a pro like you. I do it for fun. 😅

I have a question for you: what are some common misconceptions that beginners make when doing lettering or tattooing?😅

I really enjoy your videos thank you for getting straight to the point unlike a lot of other how to videos where they have a long drawn out video for no reason when the meat and potatoes is all you really need. I will definitely be subscribing and coming back for more content thank you!

In answer, I'm just a beginner, I'd say it depends on the thickness and size of the letters. If it's a larger area you should always fill with largest needle configuration you can use. Smaller areas fill in with shader or liner.

depending on the size and area you can fill in with liner if bot bigger a shader also works i find when i have done this.

Love these freehand "how to" videos, need more, haha... I really struggle with fonts. Just today I downloaded a font, then "customized" it. Thanks for all the content, hope all is well. Take it easy.

Depends on the size of the script and I would use a round shader .are the liner ur using could help shade it in

Depends on the person if they want a single line work tattoo they can get it or like if someone want the shader to come out for some shading in it or the whole letter to be filled with lines and shades... So it's upto them 😊

Can you do the same with negative designs? I’m still leaving procreate and just wanted to know if that shade trick works for doing negative designs in general

Also if your not great at drawing your own lettering you can always start with a base generic font and kind of build it up fancy it up add design to make more origional

Im thinking because theyre letters if the client wants them black out then youd use the liner but if the letters were larger or if they maybe wanted a colour gradient in the letter, like you see in the traditional style font, youd use a shader. i think 😂
