Carto: CartoCSS

Styling features with CartoCSS in Carto.

I have a dataset that I'm trying to style in Carto. I have 190 polygons which get read in as one layer.
I'm trying to color them with 30 specific colors but the GUI is seemingly incapable of this.
When I use CartoCSS to try to apply that many colors, the polygons completely stop being rendered for that layer.
I tried creating another layer from the same dataset and used CartoCSS to apply 14 colors successfully, but this is crippled compared to how I want the map to be colored.
