Let’s be honest, that last move she made of exploding the place before she died was pretty badass. It’s like a “you’re coming with me” moment.

Everyone said that magic girl would die in nowadays' anime well they're right.

In general I like what the creators of anime and manga are doing with magical girls lately by making them a little more gritty. It is weirdly inspiring, because they are keeping most of their personality tropes (fighting for justice; being a pure example of kindness and love; and doing what they do because it just is the morally right thing) while also putting in realistic opposition and the likely opportunity of death. Before they would never die or get into a serious fight, but lately magical girl shows are beginning to display what powerful martyrs of justice and love they can become like with scenes such as this... It's really cool.

Magical Girls then: Magic Wands, Kawaiiness, (cuteness) Nothing Violent (like blood or gore)
Magical Girls now: *bloodshed, gore, organs, tragic backstories.*

Gonna be real— this scene lowkey inspired me to create a Magical Girl DND 2 years ago… magical girls could literally be SO destructive and that aspect is so under explored.
