Sustaining longevity in sports is a challenge only the greatest athletes achieve. Occasionally, we witness those rare players who defy the aging process, earning the title of ageless wonders. Whether it's due to innate talent, rigorous training, or a blend of both, these athletes demonstrate that age is merely a number.
and it's one thing to continue just playing and sticking around at the highest level for a certain period of time, but it's a whole other level of greatness to play at an elite level for decades. And today boys, i've honestly never had more fun and been more excited to post this and share it will ya’ll, were gonna be talking about a player who’s pro career is almost 20 years older than myself… a man who’s career literally outlived internet explorer and has played with or against 38% of nhl players to have ever played the game, and you know him you love him, this man honestly doesn’t need any more of an introduction im talking about the complete story of the ageless wonder, mario jr, the most iconic mullet in sports, Jaromir Jagr! #jaromirjagr #nhlplayoffs #nhl #hockey #floridapanthers #pittsburghpenguins #newyorkrangers #washingtoncapitals

My wife and I are lifelong Penguins fans. Lucky to see them win 5 cups and see some of the best hockey people have to offer. The night they finally put 68 in those rafters my wife and I both shed a few tears. We grew up watching him as kids and we both waited for that for so long. What a great hockey moment to share with her.

The guy is simply a specimem. At 10 he got a little notebook where he listed all the squats and pushups he did every day. At 10, let it sink in! He used to do 1000 squats and 100 pushups every morning, if he was sick or otherwise couldnt do it, he never skipped, he made up for it in the next sessions, doing 2k instead. Show me a 10-year-old today with the same sort of willpower...
I remember some GM or scout asked him if he was ever a captain of his junior team, he said no, because he was always 2 years younger than the other players. Played with men at 16. Still dominated the Czech league at 46.

I was 6 when I watched the Pens bring the Cup home for the first time against the North Stars. It was an amazing era to grow up in with the Penguins. I can still name the entire roster. They dont make em like that anymore. Jagr and Lemieux are larger than life characters. Also i find the parallel btwn Jagr and Malkin dealing w language barrier issues and needing to live with countrymen to get acclimated.

@36:20 '' this just reflects the kind of person jagr has always been '' .. now i forgot if it was during the olympic games or during world championships. i beleive it was during olympic games. so must have been 1998. basically i've heard stories about jagr refusing to practice with his fellow country men. he demanded his own ice time. where he would have the ice all to himself. because he was '' too good '' to practice with his fellow country men.

It’s not Stee-ger-wald… it’s pronounced Sty-ger-wald. Or you could just call him Staggy.
